Jennifer Robichaud

Holding an Honours BFA from York  University, Jennifer Robichaud has had extensive dance training in many disciplines, specializing in jazz and contemporary forms.   Jennifer co-founded Larchaud Dance Project in 2004, and currently holds the position of Artistic Director. Her performance/choreographic credits include Larchaud productions (CAUTION/07: DanceWorks CoWorks Presentaion, Shinjiru/06, Stript Bare/05), Nuit Blanche/07, Junction Arts Festival/07, Dans/cekapital Festival (Anandam Dance),The Revue, Fringe Shanghai/06, TIDF/06,  Wintercity Festival/06,  Series 808 Finale/03, Dusk Dances/03, fFIDA/04/05, Choreographer’s Ball One Year Anniversary04/08, and numerous corporate events and video work.  Her creative explorations, and fascination with children are talents in demand by local workshops, schools, and studios.  Jennifer was a featured choreographer on the Gemini-nominated television series Freedom that aired on Bravo/07.  Presently, Jennifer teaches at Alyona Dance Studio, The York School, Voice Intermediate School, acts as creative consultant to Havergal College, and resides as a guest adjudicator on the entrance jury to St. Elizabeth Secondary School’s Regional Arts Program. She is a member of Dance Ontario.

Jase Cozmic 
Performer/Choreographer
Composition/Resident DJ

A founding member of the Intrikit Break Dance Crew, Jase has since expanded his talents and repertoire to include African dance, choreography, and electronic music composition. Performance and choreographic credits include CAUTION: LDP/08,Nuit Blanche/07, Junction Arts Festival/07, The Revue, Fringe Shanghai, TIDF-Urban Matinee and Gala Event, SHINJIRU: LDP Production, Wintercity Festival/06,  fFIDA/05, The ROOTS, Citizen Kane, Choclair, Late Night with Mike Bullard, Beastie Boys, Tribe Called Quest, Raptors Half Time Show, Raptors Dance Pac (choreographer), Blues Brothers 2000 (film) to name a few.   Jase apprenticed with COBA in 2003/2004, and he is currently a performer, choreographer, and instructor with Larchaud Dance Project.  In addition to his teaching with LDP, Jase also instructs break dance and hip-hop at many Toronto studios and is a guest instructor at various schools.  When not dancing, Jase spins d’n’b as DJ Blackirish, produces hip hop music , and creates electronic score for LDP.

 

Shabina Bharat
 Performer 

Holding an Honours BFA in dance and BEd from York University, Shabina Bharat now contributes to the arts community as a dance educator and performer. Currently she is a dance and social science teacher at St. Elizabeth’s Secondary School where she not only teaches fundamental technique classes, but also introduces students to social and cultural dance, and dance science.  Through her training, Shabina has had the opportunity to work with and study under Menaka Thakker, Holly Small, Darcy Callison and Michael Sean Marye. Her performance credits include CAUTION: LDP/07, Nuit Blanche/07, Fringe Shanghai, TIDF, SHINJIRU, Stript Bare: A Larchaud Dance Project Production, Choreographer’s Ball One Year Anniversary, fFIDA/04/05, Menaka Thakkar's "Under the Banyan Tree" 2002.

Lee-Anne Charlton
Performer/Choreographer

  Lee-Anne Charlton was raised in Jamaica where she became a founding member of Dance Theatre Xaymaca. During this time she represented the island at various World festivals in South Korea, Cuba, Antigua and the United States of America. Lee-Anne has had extensive training in modern, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and Afro Caribbean dance. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Rowe ballet school. Since then she has attended the Alvin Ailey School, and has performed repertoire from The Company Dance Theatre and the National Dance Theatre. Lee-Anne is a graduate of York University with a B.F.A Honours in Dance and a B.A Honours in Kinesiolgy. Her performance credits include Nuit Blanche/07, Junction Arts Festival/07, Fringe Shanghai, TIDF, Ballet Creole/Soulful Messiah 2003, fFIDA 2004/2005, A Choreographer’s Ball,  CAUTION, SHINJIRU and   Stript Bare:  Larchaud Dance Project Productions.

 

Marie France Forcier
Performer/Choreographer


Marie F. Forcier is the artistic Director of Forcier Stage Works. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Marie gained a Sociology DEC degree and she is a scholarship recipient from CEGEP de Saint-Laurent’s dance program. In 2001, she co-founded the award winning collective Si pailles Si rondes with which she toured throughout France and Quebec until 2003. She is also a graduate from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. Marie has created works that have been presented in: Toronto, CA (Harbourfront Center, Series 8:08, fFIDA/TIDF, In a White Room, Parahumans Dance Theatre), Vancouver, CA (Judith Marcuse Dance Projects), Montreal, CA (Studio 303), Quebec City, CA (Correspondanse), New York City, USA (Dance Theatre Workshop), Shanghai, China (The Larchaud Dance Project) and soon Victoria, CA (ROMP). In the last year, she created and produced Nucleus, as a part of DanceWorks CoWorks 2006-7 and has been re-invited to be part of the CoWorks programming for 2007-8 with a new production.  Marie has also worked as a performer for several choreographers and taught modern technique at McMaster University. She has directed and performed extensively with the Canadian based company KOBA (Children dance-theatre productions) in Dubai, UAE, Beirut, Lebanon and across Canada and the USA. Marie recently returned from sharing a choreographic residency with nine other hi-caliber dance artists from seven countries at OMI (New York, USA). She is a member of the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists, Dance Ontario and DTRC.


Mayumi Lashbrook 
Performer

Mayumi began her dancing career at the age of 4, dancing recreationally, competitively, and academically. Since then she has dance continuously and performed in a wide variety of competitions, showcases, street festivals and recitals. She earned her high school diploma at Claude Watson School for the Arts in dance, graduating with honors. Most recently she received distinction in her Advanced 1 examination with the Royal Academy of Dance.  Mayumi has had the opportunity to participate in workshops with Rex Harrington, Peggy Baker, Kimberly Glasco, and many other artists. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performance Dance at Ryerson University under the direction of Nadia Potts.  Mayumi became an apprentice member of Larchaud Dance Project in the fall of 2006, performing in the Junction Arts Festival/07 and their full-length production of CAUTION.

 

 

Robyn Alfonso

Performer

Robyn Alfonso is a graduate of York University's Dance Program.  Classically trained, Robyn was first introduced to modern dance when she attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts.  Robyn has performed in Choreographies of Migration (Sashar Zarif), Caution: LDP, Junction Arts Festival/07 (LDP), Nuit Blanche/07 (Yvonne Ng), the AfriCanadian Playwrights' Festival/06, and the Toronto International LDance Festival/06.  This is Robyn's second season with Larchaud Dance Project.
